What are Tritium Keychains?
Tritium keychains are a novel light source manufactured by means of innovative Swiss laser technology. They provide superior, longlife brightness – 100 times brighter than markings using luminous paints. Tritium keychains do not need recharging from the sun or artificial light and do not require batteries. However, the brightness of tritium keychains will slowly deteriorate over many, many years – with a lifetime easily exceeding 25 years. You can always find your stuff attached to our tritium keychain quickly and easily after sunset or in the absence of light, as the only light source will be emanating from your tritium keychain.
How Safe is a Tritium keychain
Tritium keychains are non-emissive and utilises very low levels of energy. They are safe to use in a range of applications and are worn daily, example, in Luminox, Ball, Armourlite, Marathon, H3Tactical and KHS watches just to name a few, in fire safety signs for workplaces, cinema seat number indicators, etc.
Tritium produces electrons that are of sufficiently low energy as to be unable to breach a sheet of paper or to penetrate human skin. If a tritium vial is breached, the gaseous tritium inside will quickly dissipate into the atmosphere and does not present the user with any significant safety hazard.
DOes a tritium keychain NEED TO BE SWITCHED ON OR REQUIRE “CHARGING” BY SUNLIGHT OR ARTIFICIAL LIGHT?
No, from the moment that the production process is completed, it will emit its continuous stream of light, regardless of environmental conditions. No switching on/off is needed, therefore there are no switches. Charging with light or electricity is not required. They operate independently of any external power or energy supply. The glow from tritium is visible in near darkness or total darkness.
HOW WEATHERPROOF & durable IS IT?
They will operate normally in any environmental conditions; in temperatures ranging between -40° to 70°C irrespective of humidity, even when immersed in water.
The tritium vial inside the keychains is made of glass and like glass, it can break, crack or shatter if subjected to shock, hard knocks, high vibration or misuse.
The manufacturer does not provide a warranty for the glass component of the tritium tubes/vials which may crack/break if subjected to shock, hard knocks or misuse. If this occurs the tritium tube inside the casing will stop glowing and you will have to get a replacement.
CAN I USE IT IN HAZARDOUS AREAS?
Yes, tritium keychains are inert devices and can be used in hazardous areas.
DO Tritium Keychains REQUIRE “CHARGING” BY sunlight or artificial LIGHT?
No, they do not require any charging with light or electricity. They operate independently of any external power or energy supply.
